Capital of Thailand since 1782 is a large city with 12 millions population . Bangkok is very attractive for tourists thanks to its historical buildings , especially Temples and is also very popular with the nightlife which offers.
Popular places
Historical Buildings:
- Rattanakosin (Old City )
- Grand Palace :
Official residence of the King. 218,400 sq. metres and is surrounded by walls built in 1782.
- Dusit
- Vimanmek Palace : built in 1900 by the royal command of King Rama V .
- Vimanmek Mansion: is the world's largest golden teak. It is completed during the reign of King Rama V in 1901. Architectural style reflects a western influence and is made of golden teak wood.
- Chitralada Palace: stands in about 1 sq. km (247 acres) of grounds incorporating several artificial lakes.
- Pratunam
- Suan Pakkad Palace: is built as a traditional Thai style palace and opened in 1952. You can see the collection of Asian art and antiques in the five Thai-style houses.
- Khao San Road
- Phra Sumen Fort: in a bustling area of the old city. The fort itself is octagonal with a watchtower in the middle. It is one of the remaining tower of the old city.
Temples:
- Rattanakosin
- Wat Arun ( Wat Arunratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan ) (Temple of Dawn): The most prominent feature is a tall chedi built in the 1820s that stands 85 metres .
- Wat Pho: also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha or Wat Phra Chetuphon, is south of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace. It is Bangkok's largest temple and contains a huge reclining Buddha figure that is 46 metres long and is covered with gold leaf. The feet alone are 3 metres in size. It is cited as Thailand's first university
- Wat Suthat : is one of the oldest temples and the site of the Giant Swing, formerly used in an annual Brahman ceremony. A huge teak arch from which the swing was hung still stands in front of the temple.
- Wat Saket : or the Golden Mount (Phu Khao Thong in Thai), houses relics of the Buddha in a 58-metre-high chedi surmounted by a golden cupola. Built in 18th century.
- : The temple built in 1784 is in the outer section of the Royal Enclosure west of the Grand Palace.
- Wat Ratchabophit : King Rama V ordered this to be the first temple built after he came to the throne.
- Wat Suthat and the Giant Swing : Eastern side of Rattanakosin. Ordered by King Rama I , completed during the reign of King Rama III.
- Dusit
- Wat Benchamabophit: Marble Temple, Regarded as a first class royal temple, it is also known worldwide as 'The Marble Temple'. It is constructed of white Carrara marble
- Yaowarat and Phahurat
- Wat Traimit: There is a 3 m tall Golden Buddha which weighs 5.5 tons .

- Phahonyothin
- Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium: located between the Queen Sirikit Gardens and the Children's Discovery Museum,: rockeries, shady ferns, wild flowers, and a cooling waterfall . It comprises feed breeding room, scenic area, insectariums, butterfly garden and Lamphu tree ground.

- Safari World: Wild animals as lions and attractions in a marine park.

Beaches
Pattaya is a lively and busy beach resort area about one and a half hours by expressway from Bangkok City or Bangkok Airport.
Jomtien Beach is about 1.5 hours from Bangkok
Cha Am Beach is 160 km south of Bangkok.
Khao Takiab beach and Khao Takiab Bay in the Hua Hin Thailand area offer a choice of beaches, swimming, sailing, boat trips and fishing at offshore islands.
Tuk Tuk
Three-wheeled, open sided vehicles called tuk-tuks dominate the streets .
They are also ideally suited for short trips around the city.

- Bangkokian Museum: Built in 1937 , a typical example of a wooden house of a Thai family .

- Benchasiri Park was built to commemorate the 60th birthday anniversary of HM Queen Sirikit . You can see a sculpture of a commemorative coin illustrating an image of HM Queen Sirikit.

- Saranrom Park was built a part of the Saranrom Palace, built in 1866 by King Rama IV.
